Manufacturing
All of our products are designed, manufactured and dispatched from our five acre site in Saffron Walden, offering our client’s input and insight at all stages of the manufacturing process. Ensuring that our furniture is manufactured to the highest quality standards is essential for a successful programme. The overriding benefit of utilising a production line methodology within a controlled factory environment is that it allows us to apply tried and tested quality controls throughout the entire manufacturing process. Each piece of furniture is uniquely identified throughout the process. Our quality controls identify and record the materials and processes that have been applied to the product during each stage of manufacture. Production status, quality records, cutting lists and drawings are stored on our web-based database, and all information is made available to our clients. As each piece of furniture passes along the production line, the standard of work is checked at each stage before any further work is undertaken. This ensures any errors are highlighted and corrected before they can be compounded. Pedley Furniture International currently produce around 8000 bedroom sets per year on a single shift. The factory holds over 100 machines which are capable of producing virtually any products manufactured in wood. Much of the equipment is CNC with many of the machines having been made specifically for our factory to encompass our requirements for fast variable production with the ability to reproduce products to match at a later stage if required. We make all our own veneer layons and last year veneered over 1500 acres of material through our massive hot press lines. Our finish complies with BS6250 Severe which will not ring mark when exposed to hot wet cups etc. We are the pioneers in using a new water based system that is environmentally friendly. The manufacturing and design processes optimise the use of resources and materials by designing out unnecessary material waste and ensuring an efficient procurement chain. And the integrated management of the production line enables us to use the production waste of one line to compliment the needs of a new phase or project, effectively creating an internal recycle and reuse scheme. This represents significant cost savings for the client.
