Education
With our reputation in hotel accommodation including Forte, Hilton and Ramada; and our ability to provide bespoke variations, based on a value engineered standard range to many different sectors, including education, this is a great attraction. Recognizing the boom there has been in residential accommodation, linked to the expansion in UK universities, Pedley Furniture International formulated what it terms the CUBES Range. Also eminently suitable for the conference circuit, the emphasis is on storage space and shelving, together with business/study needs, while also respecting requirements for comfort and aesthetic styling. In terms of construction, the CUBES Range is available in natural Mahogany, Oak or Ash, or laminates of the client’s choice with solid sections of hardwood featuring for such areas as lippings, legs, arms and rails: to ensure the finished pieces will survive in what is a notoriously hostile environment. The Product can be value engineered to suit the spec of the designer. Drawers are dove-tailed in the traditional fashion, front and back, while legs and rails use mortice and tenon joints to guarantee lasting strength and rigidity. Chest of drawers units, bedside tables, wardrobes, desks and of course the beds are all similarly well made. Although the volume may be in cluster bedrooms for student halls of residence, Pedley Furniture International are known for ‘one offs’ like the Homerton building at Queens College Cambridge. Built by RG Carter, it is the first new addition to the site overlooking the Cam to be completed in decades, and provides suites for the Fellows of the college. Switching from light to dark blue, other bespoke projects include student accommodation at Magdalene College Oxford. Whatever scale of project Pedley Furniture International is engaged on, however, its commitment and mindset is always to produce the highest quality product for the price: an ethos reflected at every stage in its operations from the selection of timber and the matching of veneers, through to the final assembly and application of the special lacquer it has developed which will not ring-mark.
